Anti-Valentines-Day-Metal-Playlist-4038.jpg?fm=jpg&q=65&w=1024&h=1024&fit=max

Oh, February 14th. The day people either dread or love. In the end, it’s just another day. I personally love Valentine’s Day. It is a day to show extra love to the people you care about most. I do not have a significant other this year, but I do have the most supportive family of all time and the best friends a girl could ask for. This post is for you guys! I have conjured up my very own list of five Valentine’s Day videos. Also, I made my yearly Valentine’s Day playlist. Some songs are mushy and happy. Some are so depressing you just want to cry and hold your Ben & Jerry’s tightly. Some are just plain fun.

The Honorary Title – Everything I Once Had

“February, Valentines Day. Did my best to avoid the red clichés. So you dumped me on the subway. On my way to work at 9 in the morning.” This poor emo kid is sooooooo sad he got dumped, but we’ve all been there..am I right!?!

Gym Class Heroes – Cupid’s Chokehold

There’s crumping cupids, Katy Perry and Travie McCoy…what more do ya need?

Outkast – Roses

For the guys.

Taylor Swift – I Knew You Were Trouble

For the girls.

New Years Day feat. Chris Motionless – Angel Eyes

For the heartless…literally.

The Spill Canvas – All Over You

Because we’ve never felt more musical pain than when we felt  Nick Thomas’s pain.

Now for my playlist. I included oldies, but goodies, rock, pop, metal, electronic, folk, country, pretty much everything. I’d recommend hitting shuffle. Enjoy! Valentine’s Day 2014

Vans Warped Tour 2013 – What To Wear & The Necessities

20130725-145707.jpg

Warped Tour has about 2 weeks left in the US and my date (Dallas) is next Friday! This will be my eleventh Warped in a row (I’m getting so old.) Being somewhat of a Warped veteran, I decided to post about what to wear and the must haves of your long, exciting day.

Depending on the weather/location of your date, you will need different necessities. In Texas it is always hot as hell in the Summer. That means less clothes, more water. My must have list this year will be:
– comfortable shoes (I wear chucks, but I also bring flip flops in my backpack or car. By the end of the day my feet are killing me.)
– backpack
– sunscreen
– hair ties
– sunglasses
– paper and permanent marker (you want autographs don’t you?)
– unopened water bottle (warped offers water refill stations)
– snack (granola bar, energy bar, etc)
– hat
– cash (parking, merch, etc)
– 3 canned food items or $5 to skip the long line to enter (I do it every year!)
– poncho (If you think it may rain. Umbrellas USUALLY aren’t allowed in the venues)

Now to what is the most important…what to wear to Warped Tour!

#ootd(outfit of the day) 1 – Pit Time

Your favorite band is on the main stage and you have to make it to the front! You’ll need good shoes and a strong will! Be sure to wear comfy clothes, high tops to support your ankles(and maybe someone else’s body,) a watch to keep track of set times, backpack to keep your belongs safe in a mosh, & water to stay hydrated!

Party tee $13 Forever21. Galaxy denim $30 allyfashion.com. Converse $69. Skull backpack $20 toofastonline.com. TKO F the Time watch $50 karmaloop.com. Canteen $16 Jac Vanek.

#ootd 2 – Chillin’ Like A Villian

This is me. I love music festivals, but I’m not 16 anymore. There will be no moshing or crowd surfing for this lady. I love watching bands live, but it will be from afar or on the side of the stage. This outfit will give you a bit more freedom to be girly.

Crop top $20 topshop.com. Denim $31 H&M. Converse $45. Star Wars messenger bag $46 bluebanana.com. Ray-ban new wayfarer $130. Nyx lip gloss $17 nelly.com. Makeup pouch $18 shopbop.com. OPI nail polish $16.

#ootd 3 – All Black Everything

Does your wardrobe consist of black on black on black? Well this outfit is for you. I even gave you some beauty suggestions.

#ootd 4 – Smokin’ Hott

Temperature 100 degrees? How do I look cute in that sort of heat? It can be done! Luckily crop tops are huge this year. Head wraps can add a little something to your updo as well.

Bra top $17 missrebel.co.uk. Frayed denim $40 Zara. Authentic classic mint Vans $80. Pink heart sunglasses $11 makemechic.com. Rosebud flower crown $7 Forever 21. Essie turquoise nail polish $8

Now you know what to wear and what to throw in your backpack. The main rule of Warped Tour is have fun. You are surrounded by people that love the music as much as you do. Go make new friends, dance your ass off, sing your lungs out, and give away free high fives!

See you next Friday Dallas Warped! 🙂

Calvin Harris at Zouk – Blood, Sweat, & Ravers

I didn’t know until about 9:30 pm last night that I’d be going to Zouk to see Calvin Harris. He is one of my favorite singer-songwriters/DJs/producers. His music is just plain fun. Even if you aren’t a huge EDM fan, Calvin’s music can make most shake their butts and get “ready for the weekend.” We arrived at Zouk around 11:00. I had my partner in crime, @Shane_Ray, with me for this mission. Walking up to the roped off entrances of Zouk is always the most confusing part of the journey into the depths of the multi level jungle. Everyone is asking everyone, “Is this will call? What line is this? Do you know where to go?” Last night had two entrances. One was for people with table reservations($$$). The other ONE line was for the rest of us. The peasants of Zouk. No matter if you had a hard ticket, will call ticket, or needed to buy a ticket, you were stuck in one long line that wrapped around the huge building. To make matters worse, people are intoxicated with alcohol and who knows what else in their systems. People immediately become impatient. We are in line for maybe 10 minutes and I get pushed by a crowd of people in line and take a “hardstyle” tumble onto the concrete. I immediately pop up and Shane is gone. I panic for about 10 seconds and then see him about 5 feet behind me. We lost each other in the stampede of wild, white people! We reconnect and my stockings are ripped and I am now bleeding. DEAR LORD GET ME INTO THIS CLUB! The workers at the front of the line are checking IDs, this is why it is taking so long. Bros and their girlfriends in front of us then decide to hop the fences to cut to the front of the line. I literally saw a group of over 6 boys in their awesome, neon tank tops hop the fence and cut 100 people. So gentleman like. We finally make it through that line, wait again to get another wrist band showing we paid, and then we enter the madness. I’m not even gonna get into the adventure I went on to get my $6 bud lite. On to the good stuff…

Zouk is a beautiful night club. It is multi-level, 24,000 SQ. FT, has 4 bars, and 20 private tables scattered around the club. I personally think the sound is great in Zouk. It’s like the club was made for EDM. This was my third time to be at Zouk. My first time was to see Vinny from Jersey Shore(except that we didn’t actually see him, EVER). My second time was to see Travis Barker on his Can A Drummer Get Some Tour. That was a fun event especially since Mix Master Mike was his accompanying DJ and Paul Wall made an appearance. They performed “grills” together and he had a grill. It was crunk, to say the least. Zouk’s main floor goes in a circle, so there are different stages to perform on. You kind of have to see where the mass of people are gathering to see which stage is being used. The crowd is ready for Calvin. Girls are dancing around in their fuzzy boots and bikinis. Bros are bromancing together, dancing like the white boys that they are. Finally, Calvin comes out to set up while Burns is finishing his set. The crowd goes wild. Shane and I are so excited! Calvin grabs the mic and says, “Dallas, are you ready?!” Remember, he’s Scottish. Everyone screams, the girls swoon, everyone is pumped! Calvin plays from 1:30-3:00. He plays all of his hits, “Used to Hold Me,” Rihanna’s “We Found Love,” and more. I think the crowd favorite was “Feel So Close.” Girls are making out with the dudes they met 10 minutes ago on the dance floor and sing I FEEL SO CLOSE TO YOU RIGHT NOW! My favorite part of this set and most DJ sets I go to is the overwhelming feeling of happiness in the room. Everyone is there, because they want to be there. EDM is a genre of music people either love or hate. Now I am one to say, I have never done drugs, so I do not know how awesome EDM is while trippin’. I bet it’s orgasmic and magical, but I’ll just take your word for it. I mean, have you seen me on the dance floor? I sweat out the weight of a baby! If I was anymore “high” I would probably pass out and die. I’ve been to Zouk and in the entire room, maybe 10 people are dancing. The entire club was dancing last night! Calvin Harris brought it last night, just like I knew he would. Not only is he an amazing DJ with wonderful build ups and drops, but his songwriting hits you in an emotional way. Being able to dance all night and scream the lyrics to your best friend, significant other, or that dude you met 10 minutes ago is complete…ecstasy(haha!)

Calvin Harris – Feel So Close Video

My video from last night – Calvin Harris at Zouk

Moral of the Story: Going to see a headlining DJ is usually one the worst/best experiences of your musical life, every time. Also, bring knee pads to Zouk along with your bedazzled denim.

And attn: Ladies(Only hot ones) Shane is single and ready to mingle.
